Join Life labelling
Products manufactured under this standard are made with sustainable raw materials and/or with best technologies in at least one manufacturing process. They also follow the Higg Index approach.
At Inditex our goal is to ensure that all of our products are sustainable at every stage of their life-cycle. In order for this to happen we rely on the Right to Wear philosophy, which is applied to all processes developed by our company as a quality guarantee. We ultimately create safe products manufactured in proper social and environmental conditions, made available to our clients by a team committed to continuous professional growth, never losing site of its corporate social responsibility.
We take a step further toward the manufacturing of safe and sustainable fashion with the Join Life, an environmental labelling standard characterized by seeking excellent environmental attributes. By applying the Join Life Standard, products are manufactured with sustainable raw materials and/or with best technologies in at least one manufacturing process. This standard follows the Higg Index approach, an index developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition to evaluate the environmental and social impact of the textile sector.
Join Life products have been manufactured by suppliers with an A or B rating in the social audit, or that have a continuous improvement plan with ambitious deadlines. In addition, all factories where wet processes of the main fabric or component take placed must be evaluated by the Green to Wear Standard of environmental sustainability and receive a classification of A or B, or have a continuous improvement plan with ambitious deadlines.
The environmental attributes are raw materials or manufacturing technologies that provide characteristics of environmental excellence to the products. Join Life Standard classifies these environmental attributes in 3 different categories:
- Care for Fiber, products that contains a sustainable raw material.
- Care for Water, products manufactured with a technology that reduces water consumption in at least one manufacturing process.
- Care for Planet, products manufactured with renewable energy in at least one manufacturing process, with materials that reduce the emission of hazardous chemicals such as water-based polyurethane or with leather tanned in tanneries rated Gold by the Leather Working Group protocol.
Minimum requirements to label Join Life environmental attributes as Care for Fiber, Care for Water and Care for Planet are shown below. Products can be labelled with more than one message.
