Inditex Right To Wear+
At Inditex our goal is to ensure that all of our products are sustainable at every stage of their life-cycle. In order for this to happen we rely on the Right to Wear + Standard, which is applied to all processes developed by our company as a quality guarantee. We ultimately create safe products manufactured in proper social and environmental conditions; made available to our clients by a team committed to continuous professional growth, never losing site of its corporate social responsibility.
The manufacturing of safe and sustainable fashion is also characterized by seeking excellent environmental qualities. By applying the Inditex Right to Wear + model, production is provided with the best technologies available and the most sustainable raw materials.
The Inditex Right to Wear + model is found at Zara, through Zara Join Life. Depending on the technology and/or the sustainability of the raw materials used, the products receive the following labels:
Requirements for being a Zara Join Life product
The environmental sustainability team at Inditex has developed the Zara Join Life process for Zara, which allows all parties involved in product development to know and understand the necessary requirements for becoming a Zara Join Life product. It also shows the necessary steps for communicating the benefits of such products.
A Zara Join Life product must satisfy the following criteria:
1. All factories that wet process the primary fabric* used must be evaluated by the Green to Wear Standard of environmental sustainability and receive a Green to Wear classification of A-Best in class or B-Good performance or have a continuous improvement plan with ambitious deadlines.
2. The primary fabric* used in the product must be manufactured using one of the following options:
i. BETTER raw material minimun content (at least one BETTER raw material in the main fabric/component of the product):
-BETTER COTTON (BCI): At least 50% of the cotton content of the final product´s weight.
-LENZING MODAL®: At least 30% of the cotton content of the final product´s weight.
b) Or with a BEST raw material:
i. BEST raw material minimun content (at least one BEST raw material in the main fabric/component of the product):
-ORGANIC COTTON: At least 50% of the cotton content of the final product´s weight.
-TENCEL® LYOCELL: At least 30% of the final product´s weight.
-RECYCLED MATERIAL: At least 15% of the final product´s weight.
3. Suppliers must have an A or B rating or have a continuous improvement plan with ambitious deadlines in the social audit.
Right to Wear + Standard is updated continuously with the strictest criteria, which allows us to improve the sustainability of our products.
*For footwear, the primary fabric includes the upper and lining materials.
